Best of Class High Honor Student Celebration
Each spring, Vermilion County schools are asked to send the names of the senior students who have achieved a cumulative grade point of at least 3.5 out of 4.0 or 4.5 out of a 5.0 scale during their first seven semesters. Congratulatory letters are then sent to the parents/guardians inviting them to the honor ceremony, which includes appetizers, desserts and refreshments, which was held this year at DACC's Bremer Conference Center on April 11, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. The students and parents attend at no cost thanks to sponsorships from Vermilion Advantage members, area businesses and individuals who continue to support our educational initiatives.
Vermilion Advantage & AT&T each awarded a $1,000 scholarship to students who met the qualifications and completed an essay on a topic supplied by the scholarship sponsors. In 2010, 151 seniors meet the requirements, and at the April 11 Celebration, area business & community leaders presented academic excellence certificates to those students – a proud moment for parents, guardians, guests and teachers. 2010 marked the 25th Annual Vermilion County Student Honor Ceremony, honoring the students, parents and schools.
